Tuesday, January 9th (Day 2)

 Announcements:

* Happy New Year families! Hope you had an amazing holiday break! Thanks for your thoughtful cards and gifts, greatly appreciate it! 

* We started 2 new units this week. In math, we have started our Spatial Sense unit, and in science, we have started our Matter and Energy unit. 

* As we return from the break, I've reminded students of classroom expectations, if possible, please reiterate our classroom expectations to students at home (in door shoes are mandatory now that the weather is changes, no cellphone usage in class as they will be confiscated)

* Library is every Day 2 of the school cycle from 12-12:20pm

Learning Goal: We are learning to identify the properties of tessellating shapes 

- Began our spatial sense unit

- Experimented with different geometric shapes and polygons to see which ones can tessellate a plane (completely cover without overlaps or gaps)

Literacy 

Learning Goal: We are using New Year's Resolutions to create a blog post

- Students read an article surrounding how to make meaningful resolutions and create effective steps for progress

- Library book exchange

- Started their New Year's Resolution blog activity

Science

Learning Goal: We are learning to define and understand the particle theory of matter
