Literacy: Reading Comprehension Through Social Justice

- Students watched the movie RISE to make connections between the experiences of refugees and applied their knowledge of social justice terminology such as racism and discrimination 

Independent Tasks

- complete reading comprehension Racism: A harmful belief system (click for digital version)

Health: Conflict Resolution

- Discussed effective communication and conflict resolution strategies

Independent Tasks

- Read through the article we discussed in class Conflict Resolution for Teens (click for direct access)

Science: Buoyancy

- Students completed a demonstration where they observed the effects of buoyancy using clay, metal pans and water 

- Discussed and defined positive, neutral and negative buoyancy
